Creepmas is coming up, and signups are still going strong. My blog has already been added to the list. If you loved Countdown to Halloween, then you'll love Creepmas.
What exactly is Creepmas? Here's the official explanation.
Why am I participating in it this year? It's because I'm sick of Christmas taking over, especially when cooler holidays are not even celebrated yet/have barely been celebrated. Halloween and Thanksgiving used to be even cooler when they were given their share of the spotlight. It was a good while, back in the day, when my family could still spend time together on these holidays versus panicking over what to get people for the holidays. One of my fondest memories was hanging out with my side of the family on Thanksgiving morning and watching the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade. Santa would appear on the tv screen, and everyone in the room would cheer. Thinking about Santa coming to town was magical. Such a youthful thought. Christmas was only mentioned after Thanksgiving, like it should have been in the first place.
Nowadays, you see Christmas EVERYTHING starting in July. What the hell? What's worse is the fact that stores have become so greedy that they have forced family and friends to work on the holidays themselves. Ian and I only get to see each other on Thanksgiving for a couple of hours, then he's forced to sleep, wake up, and make a beeline to his work for Black Friday BS. How lame is that? Oh, and my birthday gets overshadowed to boot (I was born on the twenty-second of December). That sucks even worse.
Take a stand. Bring the creepiness into the beginning days of December (the first through the thirteenth). Give the people celebrating the holidays something to scream about...
