The Countdown to Halloween: Studio Ghibli witch brought to life

(Another family friendly movie worth mentioning during this Countdown!)

Hello, cosplay worthy character! I'm seriously loving Kiki's clothing revamp. ^w^

This little tidbit I found out just made my night. Kiki's Delivery Service is one of my all-time favorite Studio Ghibli movies (Howl's Moving Castle barely beats this movie out as my top favorite).

I remember when Kiki's Delivery Service was first released here in the States on VHS. It was dubbed in English, but it was one of the best dubs I have ever heard.
I still prefer the English dub of Kiki's Delivery Service with the added sound effects and extra Phil Hartman lines.

The story goes like this: When a witch turns thirteen, she must venture out into the world on her own and find her true calling in society. Kiki is a witch who falls under this category. She leaves home with her cat, Jiji, during a night with a full moon. Kiki goes through many trials during her time away from home, but eventually gets a hang of things with help of friends she makes along the way. A delivery service is how she contributes to society, since flying is her specialty.

Go here to find out more information about the live action movie.
Go here for a chance to purchase the special edition manga that is being made alongside the movie (it's SO incredibly pretty! >w< ).
Go here to purchase the remastered version of Kiki's Delivery Service (not the version that I originally watched. It contains the original music and sound effects from the Japanese version. If you're wanting the original English dub, find the original VHS/DVD).

Have you seen Kiki's Delivery Service? If so, what do you think of this movie? Have you seen all the versions? How do you think it compares to other Studio Ghibli movies? Comment below! ^w^
